چکیده
A Middle Miocene (Early Badenian) Rissooidea assemblage with 19 species of ten genera is described and illustrated from the fossiliferous locality at Letkés (Börzsöny Mts, Hungary). The material represents most highly diverse occurrence superfamily in Pannonian Basin System. Nine are recorded for first time this region. Rissoa federicoi nom. nov. proposed as new name junior homonym Rissoia (Turboella) acuticosta Sacco, 1895.

Two new species of Tornidae (Caenogastropoda, Rissooidea) from Espírito Santo, Brazil
Two new species of shallow water Tornidae are found in Espírito Santo state, Brazil, formally described herein. They belong to a complex group of tiny gastropods, in such the taxonomy is very confused. Cyclostremiscus mohicanussp. n. is characterized by three well-developed spiral, equidistant carinas, working as base of three series of tall, aligned periostracal rods. Episcinia itanhunasp. n. ...
متن کاملMiddle Miocene hominoid origins.
Ward et al. (1) ably show that samples of thickly enameled Middle Miocene hominoids that they attribute to a new genus, Equatorius, are distinct from Kenyapithecus. They fail to show, however, how Equatorius differs from Griphopithecus. In so doing, they may have missed the hominoid connection between Eurasia and Africa by 2 to 3 million years. The authors note the presence of a welldeveloped b...
متن کاملSimulation of the Middle Miocene Climate Optimum
[1] Proxy data constraining land and ocean surface paleotemperatures indicate that the Middle Miocene Climate Optimum (MMCO), a global warming event at 15 Ma, had a global annual mean surface temperature of 18.4 C, about 3 C higher than present and equivalent to the warming predicted for the next century. We apply the latest National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) Community Atmosphere M...

Temporal variations in the orientation of Cenozoic range growth in northeastern Tibet defi ne two modes by which India-Asia convergence was accommodated. Thermochronological age-elevation transects from the hanging walls of two major thrust-fault systems reveal diachronous Miocene exhumation of the Laji-Jishi Shan in northeastern Tibet. Whereas accelerated growth of the WNW-trending eastern Laj...
متن کاملHabitat preferences of European Middle Miocene omnivorous ursids
Indarctos spp. were the first large−bodied bears with omniv− orous tendencies. Two Indarctos fossils assigned to I. arcto− ides ssp. by Bernor, Feibel, et al. (2003) and Viranta and Werdelin (2003) show that the genus had a wide geographic range in Europe in theMiddleMiocene andwas represented by at least two contemporaneous species. Present work shows that the two species of Indarctos lived in...
